The Kimono is the most beautiful and interesting piece of woman clothes which shows the woman’s body at its best and is a real treat and delight for the woman’s skin.
It is a symbol of longevity and good fortune and goes way back in the Japanese culture and traditions. They were suitable to wear for all weather: They could be worn in layers to provide warmth in winter, and kimonos made of breathable fabric such as linen were comfortable in summer. These advantages helped kimonos become part of Japanese people’s everyday lives.
So now we know a little bit about the history of the kimono…and that the kimono is/was in japan a piece of clothes to wear everywhere, whole day, all days. So why not wear the kimono on the streets here..?!
These days the kimono’s are also made of satin, silk, chiffon or viscose. Easier to wear. In the western countries the kimono are mostly wearing in the morning as a bathrobe, as luxury loungewear during the day, in the evening after shower for a romantic night or on the beach during summer.
But also in the western countries the kimono is getting more and more populair to wear ‘streetstyle’.
The kimono is becoming a fashion item and you can combine the Kimono with all different outfits.
